I have looked but don't find an exact P channel counterpart for the IRFZ44 hexfet. Does anyone know what is the best choice? Thanks.

That's the one I came up with as well, but I was thrown by the RDS (on) rating, which is .02Ω, versus 17.5mΩ for the IRFZ44. Does that matter?

The impedance is not much differce, but you should care the current and calculate the wattage.

 

As far as I know a power p-channel mosfet will never have the same conductance as the power n-channel mosfets. It has to do with the intrinsic limitations of the doped material.

0.02Ω is 20mΩ. The difference between that and 17.5mΩ is 2.5mΩ. That is insignificant.

Hmmm...I guess it's obvious that I read 17.5mΩ as 17.5MΩ.

Bit out dated theme but I was wondering same question, after some search, bellow you can see results

They have some different Resistance values (IRFZ44 and IRF5305) but almost same input capacitances so they will turn ON and OFF almost in same time under same conditions
