Hi all, just a quick question
what are the main advantages of using a crystal oscillator over using a phase shift or wein bridge oscillator?
i could do with finding as many reasons as possible?
    Many thanks

Stability. Crystal oscillators hold still, frequency wise. You can even get crystals with heaters attached so they stay at a higher than room temperature place, and that takes out the temperature induced frequency drift.

Is this a homework assignment? If so I will go ahead and move it to the homework forum.

There is tons of information, but you need to do a lot of reading. Wikipedia is a great source, as well as quite a few encyclopedias. The main answer has already been given.
