Orientation of an SMD Tordial Inductor

My old Dell 5100 laptop took a spike during an electricl storm a couple of months ago, then it wouldn't power up.

I took it apart today, and found a smokey (burnt) looking 4RT inductor.
Believe it or not, I have a spare, in my salvaged parts box.

Question, is there a + / - side when mounting?

The lettering on the old one, and consiquently the mounting pads, don't go the same way as on the new one. The old one is East-West lettering, as mounted on the MB, and the new one is North-South lettering.

Thanks for any feedback, or for steeing me in the right direction.

I think the inductors are wound the dropped into a bin then, at the next station, the part number is stenciled or printed on them (no need to be consistent in the orientation).

It did (have 2), and I did get it mounted,
Sadly, it didn't fix the laptop.

I'm not that good at troubleshooting Laptops.

But hey, it's all good.

I learned something new today, and I got to tinker for a few hours in the garage.
It was nice, 65ish, and sunshine.

Thanks again,
Gary
