The verdict came after four days of deliberations. One juror, a former federal employee, was dismissed over questions of bias on Wednesday and replaced by a substitute.

The 12-member panel found all seven defendants - six men and a woman - not guilty of the most serious charge, conspiracy to impede federal officers through intimidation, threats or force. That charge alone carried a maximum penalty of six years in prison.

The defendants also were acquitted of illegal possession of firearms in a federal facility and theft of government property, except in the case of Ryan Bundy, for whom jurors were deadlocked on the charge of theft.

Juror 4 vigorously defends the across-the-board acquittals of Ammon Bundy and his six co-defendants, calling the rulings a "statement'' about the prosecution's failure to prove the fundamental elements of a conspiracy charge.
...
"It should be known that all 12 jurors felt that this verdict was a statement regarding the various failures of the prosecution to prove 'conspiracy' in the count itself – and not any form of affirmation of the defense's various beliefs, actions or aspirations,'' Juror 4 wrote Friday in a lengthy email to The Oregonian/OregonLive.
It looks like another conspiracy theory went down in flames.;) Conspiracy charges have the potential to be abused by the government so it looks like the jurors made a statement about that here.

Guess the Native American protestors in SD need to arm themselves to get "justice".
They need to accept the fact that 'Native Americans' lost the war 200 years ago when they protest on 'private land'. If you have a beef with the feds on federal property that's one thing but you can't just say we want New York back because it was once ours.

Isn't that exactly what the "militants" were doing? Saying, "this (federal) land was once open range and we want it back."

Close but not exactly as federal property belongs to the citizens of this nation unlike private property. I don't like either cause as both are on a fools errand.
