Hello.

I am looking to build a simple circuit with a optoelectronic switch that will test if the sensor is working via an LED. The part is OPB815WZ from OPTEK Technology.

I know how to wire the LED side, but I'm rusty on biasing the transistor side. Any suggestions or comments?

Install a led in series to pin 3; will turn on when there is coupling.

Don't forget to add a current limiting resistor in the collector circuit. Are you looking for a Go-NoGo test or a quantitative one?
