optocoupler

    hi friends...., I'm searching for opto coupler. where i need to isolate from 230V ckt. that is i ll give 230v to opto coupler and i need to get 5V as the output.SO can u help me which IC can i use for this.....

    Please describe the signal you want to transmit through the coupler (simple slow on/off, or some pulses like PWM, data, etc.)

    Do you have a five volt power supply on the output side from which to derive the five volts for the output?

    There is no such thing as an optocoupler that uses 230 volts to activate. You will have to reduce the voltage and control the current on the control side. Also, optocouplers do not generate voltage. You will have to provide the 5 volts on the output side so the optocoupler can switch it on and off.

    That said, there are thousands of optocouplers that can do this job...in fact, almost all of them can do it. Go to a vendor website like Jameco, Digikey, or Mouser and pick one.
