One shot power

Say I'm using a 6v battery and I wanted a short (300ms of power) via a switch.
When you hold the switch for more then 300ms the power shouldn't still be able to run.
How would I make that. Which components do I use? I know it can be done with a 555 timer but is there another way?

There are several ways from a capacitor and a transistor to a microprocessor. The 555 is famous for being the simplest way to get what you want and do it accurately.

What method do you prefer?

Hi thanks for the prompt reply.
I need this switch to reset a 555 timer.

I've already got another thread on this.

- I gotta hold down the switch for say 1s to activate power (via a capacitor)
now in order to reset that 1min run I have to 0 volt or make PIN4 low which is usually HIGH. I want to use the same switch.
Can I use either - SPDT relay to ground...
- somehow connect a BJT .. I dno how (just a though)
- a mosfet switch

Thanks
