U know when I think of it....is it happening, I mean are they trying to con someone or is just a prank. I mean seriously, look at the vocabulary, even that is lame.

I really just don't get it...why do they keep doing this ?

This type of scam has been going for years; I think it originated in Nigeria where it has a generic type name based on the legal law that it contravenes- something like 457?
It persists because it works; maybe less than 0.0001% but it works and costs nothing to perpetrate. I despair and feel little sympathy when another case is exposed in the press - 'mother loses life savings in internet scam...'

    regards, SOBT

419 scam it's called. I used to read through some of the stories of people taking the scammers for a ride on http://www.419eater.com/index.php

some are highly entertaining and last for months at a time before the scammers cotton on...

The odd vocabulary is because the emails are generated so they are all slightly different to try and fool the spam filters. For a lot of the words there will be a list of alternatives so that your email will be different to the others.

Because 1 in 100 is an idiot, and the payoff is relatively big.

You guys on so suspicious. What makes you think it is a scam?

You don't realize how lucky you are Rifaa. I'll bet very few got an email like this.

You should send the information and you will be a very rich man soon! :)

Actually a local talk show host claims he emailed one of these guys back giving his phone number. The guy called back and he had him on the phone for a 1/2 hour jerking him around.
