Most works of art feature a barrier of some type to protect the artwork. This one needs a barrier of some kind to protect from the artwork!

Artist Doris Salcedo is definitely breaking new ground here. But does her bold new vision have a solid foundation? Or is she on shaky ground? Does this piece stack up or does it fall through?

My own tastes in art have more classical underpinnings. Salcedo's work does not exactly leave me floored.

 

Btw with reference to the thread title, we do have Earthquakes in the UK! They are typically not very severe (~3 on the Richter Scale).
