Need to find equivalent or bypass a cm3406ds

    I can only find the chips on Chinese websites.
    I've attached to spec sheet for those interested.

    So it's an 8 pin step-down switch mode converter
    1.2A output current
    Pin out:
    1 - NC - not connected (well, that's good! one less lead to worry about)
    2 - BS - bootstrap - (cap to drive output voltage higher) sounds like BS to me:)
    3 - IN - Vin
    4 - SW - Vout
    5 - GND - ground
    6 - FB - feedback - resistor divider sets voltage output
    7 - Comp - compensation - something, something, something
    8 - EN shutdown enable - keep above 2.495 V and the thing is ON

    It looks like the same company makes something similar MP8716, but has a different pin out.

    I wonder if a simple 780X or a variable voltage regulator might work.

    Let's wait for other opinions.
