    Hi all,
I am quite new to digital fundamental.Currently i am doing my project for this subject. It is about dual lane traffic management.

On my breadboard now already assembly 555 time and voltage regulator, 75175 + 7408 for clocking and 74193 + 7404 for counter and this whole counter circuit already workabled. I am facing difficulties to figure out how to make below condition works.

    Requirement:
1 . Car can enter tunnel in either direction, but only 1 car each time for each direction.
    2. Every car only will stay in tunnel for 3 clock cycle.
    3. Determine whether there is congestion in tunnel.
    4. If congestion appear for more then 3 cycle, a SEVERE_CONGESTION LED will light up for 3 clock cycles.

My 1st thought was 74283 but it seem we need shift register to record down how many car in tunnel.
Please help to suggest appropriate way to build this. Thanks in millions.

Please post your circuit with a description of what each IC is doing.

This will be necessary as a base for discussion.

    Ok sorry.
Basically my voltage regulator just for purpose allow me to use 9v baterry and step down voltage to constant 5V to my circuit. And my 555 timer + 75175 is to provide single pulse clock and it connected to 74193 UP pin. 74193 output QA,QB,QC,QD connected to 4 LEDs to show counter as 0000. I will draw my full circuit and post it later on.

Below is the basic circuit currently, all vcc and gnd connected.Sorry i do not have circuit maker program and i think this is the best way for me to draw in the office :)

I connected Qc to CLR of 74175 due to i want to stop counting aft binary 4.

Firstly, learn to draw a schematic properly.

Do not use IC layouts in a schematic. A circuit diagram should look like the one used for that 555 timer circuit. Learn to use electronic symbols.

Circuit schematics is a language. Learn the language.

If you do not have a drawing program, draw it on paper and scan it or take a photograph.

Sorry I was just trying to draw the layout of my breadboard but not schematics diagram. Since I was not trying to ask for troubleshooting, so I guess using the IC layout will be more easier for people to understand.
Sorry for any inconvenience caused. Thanks anyway.

Wrong. The breadboard or IC layout is NOT easy to follow.
That is why professionals draw proper circuit diagrams.
Come back with a proper drawing and then someone will help you.

    Here it is

The resistor value may not valid,so can ignore it.

i have problem understanding requirement. how do you create congestion with only one car, when that car does not stay longer in place than any other (all pass tunnel in same time which is 3 clock cycles).
