I am looking to have someone custom-build digital scoreboards for my sport. I have no idea where to turn.

These kinds of projects take a long time. I designed most of what was needed for combat robotics, even bread boarded some of it, but never went with the design.

where someone else is doing a do it yerselfer. I think he'll finish his.

Are you wanting simple counters to 7 with push buttons on the side, or something fancier?

 

I would say;
He needs to contact some of these businesses that already manufacture
scoreboards for sporting events, and have them come up with one that is tailored to billiards as he desires them to be, etc.
As for mine, it is old technology (discreet IC's) and he could certainly do better with the PIC's etc, etc.......
