You would have a hard time making the function generator with op amps. The NTE864 is a still-available equivalent of the ICL8038 function generator that does produce all those waveforms with a few external components. You can find the ICL8038 data sheets on line, and can get the NTE864 as part number 526-NTE864 at www.mouser.com. I think they run about $7.50 each.
