Need help in Stepper motor

    I wanted to ask,
    Do we always need a driver IC to drive a Stepper motor???
    I have a SONY Floppy drive extracted motor,
    and i want to drive it, I already got 89c51, and by searching the google, Checked it that it is a Bipolar , having 4 output wires,,,,
    No data sheeet available on internet for motor............
    So i hereby request you people to help me............
    I have seen good handsome amount of replies to questions related to stepper motor on this forum....................
    so please tell me,
    from where should i start.....

    http://www.cs.uiowa.edu/~jones/step/ This is the site where I learned about stepper motors. It includes almost everything about them, except some general motor theory which could be handy. But if all you want to know is how to make one run, this site covers it.

    No you do not need an IC you can use discrete components.
