I am trying to find a start capacitor for an AO Smith ac motor on a Craftsman air compressor. It's 115 V, 136-163 MFD, 220 VAC 'A'. Any online searches do not come up with a match and the compressor is only 6 years old. Is there any other type of capacitor that would be compatible?
In a review on this compressor, a fellow said that the start capacitor was too weak and he replaced it with a slightly higher capacitor and hasn't had problems since, the problem being it was blowing the circuit breaker. Unfortunately, he didn't give specs. Can this be done? I've read conflicting information and if so, what specs?
