Need help diagnosing sound system problem

It's a Kenwood VRS-5100 and the left channel looks munched. My main left speaker has little or no output(however the rest of my surround system works fine- as far as I know). I've done some troubleshooting myself and when I plug in only the left AV cord I get no sound. Only when the right cord is in do I get sound from it. It's not the cord itself because I've tried several others.

Can anybody help me?

Thanks.

If the channel does turn out to be dead..

Do you have a Digital Multimeter (DMM)?

An Oscilloscope?

We can get by without the scope, but a DMM is required.

If you do have a DMM and the amp is known to have a bad channel, please post pictures of the front and back of the PCB as attachments. make sure there is adequate light and focus for the photos.

No guarantees, but members here do get stuff working again at a rate significantly higher than random guesses would dictate.
