Hello.. Noob here..

I really dont know much about circuits, and the people at Radio Shack were unable to help, so Im hoping maybe you guys can help.

I have a mattress pump that runs on 4 'D' batteries. I am trying to modify it so I can control the speed of the pump (preferably to lower levels). I was told that I would need a rheostat for this, but the ones at radioshack appear to be to weak to handle the load.

If anyone can tell me which one to choose, or have any other suggestions, Id really appreciate it.

search PWM. is the pump AC or DC? what voltage and current?

 

Sorry I really dont know.. Im guessing its DC because it runs on batteries?

Sorry I didn´t read carefully. Then you should find a PWM generator circuit, and feed it to a transistor to regulate the pump.
