Have you tried looking up heating and plumbing stores in your area?

Gas or Electric? Either way your Provincial service provider will have a list of cost effective solutions now, with the big push for energy efficient appliances.

If you elect one of the newfangled Gas furnaces, that employ plastic-pipe intake and exhaust... Make darn sure they deal with the massive amount of condensation that runs back down the exhaust pipe into the furnace...

EDIT: The addition of the Sani-tee to the exhaust stack of my Trane gas burner... piping the condensate off to the AC drain, which is also connected to the sewer main.... NO water makes it back into the furnace...

At the last house, I had that damn thing go out and refuse to fire up because of two drops of water. Naturally, when it was close to ZERO outside.

After replacing two blowers, three ignitors, I vowed to never again buy that type again.

This house has a traditional, brand new, gas furnace, with zero problems.

Eight days later, in November, in Canada, and no response from the O.P. (lillymac)?
    Looks like a drive-by.
(Lucky for me. Florida people have very little experience with Canadian furnaces.)
