This is probably a really easy answer, but I'm struggling to find something very simple. I'm building a box and I want it to have a male 110v outlet on it. I can find a million of them that are the rectangular shape that a computer has, but I can't seem to find the terminology for one that an outdoor extension chord will plug into?

    Basic concept:
Outdoor receptacle ----> extension chord ----> my box.

    thanks

We are clearly from different jurisdictions! I wouldn't want to be using one of those outdoors.

I believe you can also get them for RV's sockets for site hook-up.
    Max.

Googling "US plug AC panel mount" gives some promising hits.

Awesome thanks everyone. I knew it would be simple I was just having no luck on the standard Digikey/Mouser websites.

The name for that connector type is a NEMA 5-15P for 15 amps, NEMA 5-20P for 20 amps.
