Just remembering the old days. It's a challenge to play around with tubes. Power transformer and Variable Ganged caps may have to be cannibalised. Tubes ..... ?
    All the best.

it would be nice if someone made a real modulation transformer these days for am transmitters, that choke modulator probably works pretty good, but at that power level wouldnt a centertapped pushpull transformer worked as good?

a center tapped transformer works for modulaion as a single ended audio output stage and a plate modulated stage. one tube for audio, one for rf, each connected to oposite ends of plate winding. power applied to center tap. a cheaper way used in some early cb's.

Transformer is use for Voltage to convert from AC to DC.

no, rectifyer is to convert ac to dc. transformer is to step up or down voltage, isolate supply from load, match impedances, and other things, usually with ac on both sides.
