Rajendra Bhatt (embedded-lab.com) has put together a very nice article outlining the basic steps required to get your first program running on an MSP430 Launchpad board using the CCS (Code Composer Studio) development environment.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the TI Launcpad package, it's a full-blown microcontroller development board with built-in USB programmer and debugger that TI sells for $4.30 (the CCS development software is free). More info' and a couple videos can be found on the TI MSP430 Launchpad wiki.

I urge those of you who have been sitting on the fence, so to speak, to spend a few minutes reading Raj's very nice article. And remember, if you decide to take the plunge, there are several guys here and over on 43oh.com who can probably help you overcome some of those early hurdles you're likely to encounter.

Happy Holidays everyone.

Cheerful regards, Mike
