modular amplifiers

    I dont understand the meaning of the following statement.
    SOME INSTRUMENTATION AMPLIFIERS ARE AVAILABLE IN MODULAR FORM TO SUIT SPECIAL INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS.
    In the above statement i dont understand what is meant by modular form.
    I know that module means a self-comtained independent unit but i guess all instrumentation amplifiers are self-contained independent units.

    By "modular", INA's may be purchased already mounted on a PCB and capable of being integrated into a data acquisition system - www.omega.com/Pressure/pdf/OM2.pdf.

    This is quite different from an IC by itself.
