MIPI Camera Interface

    I need to interface a cell phone type video camera module to a PIC18F46K22 MCU. I have not identified the exact part yet, but am currently researching the feasibility of the idea.

    1) I need to be able to read the RGB values of just 64 of the pixels in each frame, spread evenly over the sensor, I do not need / want to capture the entire image.

    2) I need to do this @ 30 Hz- or better 60 Hz.

    3) I need to do this synchronously, i.e. I need to control the exact time of image acquisition.

    The common interface for these modules seems to be the "MIPI Camera Serial Interface" which looks rather complex, does anyone have experience working with this protocol?

    Is there a way to set the horizontal / vertical line counters to skip over portions of the image data?
