That thermal camera looks like a hundred kinds of, "just right for the job". I've had miserable crimp connections in freezers, but the current was so low they wouldn't heat. Post #8 is a good idea, too.

The problem using a IR gun on a BMW is that there is too much plastic that screws up the reading ..You would be better off viewing the exhaust manifold for a cold cylinder that way ..

 

The exhaust manifold on a BMW will be made out of plastic soon too when they figure out how.

It will be environmentally friendly (biodegradable) like their water pumps
