Does anyone know the maximum db that can be obtained from a speaker like this without damage? Can the output compare to a piezo buzzer?

db level won't be that much but I don't think that can compare to a piezo.
Piezo's produce HF tones, where else the link one is a small general purpose speaker like used in phones
