    Hello everyone,

I was just wondering how melody ICs like UM66 produce music with just a constant DC supply as the input? The speaker needs to be fed some sort of pulsating current to produce some sound, so how does the IC achieve this even though it's input is not AC?

    Thank you! :)

The supply voltage, DC or AC has nothing to do with the sound output.
Think of you smart phone or MP3 player. They are all powered by a battery supplying DC.

The DC supply powers internal circuits which convert digital samples of a sound to pulses which are integrated to give an audio waveform.
