I want to measure power emitted from an LED. Can a photodiode do this? For example, my LED emitted 1W. I want to measure power at 10cm distance in unit of W. I know photodiode only measure light intensity in unit of W/m^2. Can you help me? Thank you.

light power?..
maybe you mean lux/lumens/candlepower,etc...
You can pick up a cheap multimeter with a lux/lumen sensor built right into it.
or even a dedicated lux meter like this

or you can just read the datasheet for the LED.. the manufacturers have already done the testing for you..
