Mean time between failures calculate

    Here is my task:
    Some device has 1000 components and failure of any component means failure of whole device. Calculate MTBF of whole device, if MTBF of individual component is 100 years.
    Any idea how to do this?

    The failure rate of a component is:
    mu = 1 / (100 * 365 * 24 * 60 * 60 sec) = 317 * 10^(-12) / sec
    The device failure rate is 1000 times higher:
    mu_d = 317 * 10^(-9) / sec
    The mean time before failure of device is:
    T_mtbf = 1 / mu_d = 36.5 days
