looks like Mr_Chip_on_shoulder don't like the style of music....

here's me thinking the Off-Topic thread was for that :)

sadly my brain can't co-ordinate hands to fingers so a little envious (couple major car accidents in my teens, effected thought pattern), been told perfect hands for piano.... so i can appreciate the effort put in.

you coupled up with a band yet or still in the practice makes perfect stage?

The Off-Topic forum is for our seasoned members to get something off-topic off their chest.

This post is simply self-promotion from a one-hit wonder. We frown on that.

The banner says we are allowed to discuss anything. Anyway, I didn't listen to the whole video -- not my genre. But what I did hear sounded pretty good. I have my own guitar video up on youtube, but I'm such a rank amateur, I only show it to close friends :)

If I had mad guitar skills, I don't think this is the music I would pick to show them off. Unless there is something later in the vid that I didn't see.

I had pretty much the same reaction as MrChips had. If you really like the music, it has been posted on several other sites today:

http://forums.gearboxsoftware.com/showthread.php?p=5023023
http://www.tombraiderforums.com/showthread.php?p=7159640
http://www.theroyalforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37363&goto=newpost.html

That list is just from the first page of Google gnr991. There is also a post from earlier with the same handle, but no music attached to verify same person:

http://www.guitarforums.com/showthread.php?t=30790 (no link, "8 years" experience)

I suspect he is just looking for YouTube hits. That is certainly no big offense, and I don't see that the added clutter on AAC will overload its server. However, I think the lengths to which some people will go to get YouTube hits or hits on other social media is a concern. We now are seeing kids setting themselves on fire for just that purpose. Let's hope they don't find AAC.

Hello,

@jpanhalt,
I see that the link already was taken out on one of the forums.

I would say that it is self-promotion, wich is not allowed over here, as it is only there to draw attention.
I also strongly feel the need to remove the link too.
The link would be more in place on a guitar player forum

People posting in off-topic with zero posts to their credit bother me, but they could have been a long-time lurker/first time poster. What is really unusual is that this poster just jointed in Aug 2014. I think the self-promotion is the goal here.

On the other hand, he didn't really do anything wrong according to TOS - as far as i remember.

Randomly posting in a forum without any previous postings isn't flattering and the skills aren't to bad for 8 years and I would have expected better over that time period; don't quit your day job.

Personally I feel; if it's self promotional to create more hits; I'm thinking of it as an advert and should be removed forth wit.

No offense gnr991. After five years you should be able to do more than play a triad or two and interval fills. No new news there; been going around since the 1930's, along with 12-Bar that ain't 12-Bar, turn-arounds, and 1-4-5 progressions. But you can hold rhythm- that's good.

My suggestion? Put the pick down. Put the LP Studio in its case. Turn off the stomp box and the amp. Get a really good old used accoustic guitar (Spanish- no nylon strings please) and open a book about the music of John Williams or Andres Segovia.

As far as the vid, I wouldn't spread it around.

I do wish you all the best in your journey.
