Maximum amplitude modulation index

Hello,

If possible, can you give me a very quick explanation on how to get the largest permissible modulation index for Asynchronous amplitude modulation?

I know that the least permissible is an A such that A+x min (t) always positive. What about the largest permissible? Whats controls the largest value?
