I have a 12v DC linear actuator that I want to do the following:

When a button is pushed and held down the actuator will move forward (extend). When the button is released the actuator will automatically retract. Basically I want it to sort of behave like a pneumatic actuator. I'm a complete newbie to this and I have no idea where to begin. Here's a link to the actuator I have: http://amzn.com/B00P4U556U

Thanks for the response. Yes there are internal limit switches that are triggered when the actuator is fully extended or retracted.

 

You should only need a DPDT push button.
