Know the magnetic plug on the Apple MacBook?
Brilliant idea. has often saved the MacBook from being pulled by the cable.

I am looking for a 4 pole 5 Amp plug which will break connection when the device is inadvertently moved away, either as a result of moving or cable snagging, any ideas?
Short of making such a plug, I was wondering if anything is on the market, where, how much etc.

Yep it's pretty smart and Apple has a patent on it. So you won't be seeing them for sale anytime soon.

 

My Frydaddy deep fryer has the same type of magnetic plug but it is only 2 contacts. From what google (mostly patent applications for magnetic plug and receptacles.) brings up, I think your best bet is to make one.....
