I admit I picked 2N2369 at random. The 2N2222 is the default but I added another version with a different part just to show that any part is better than an unspecified generic.

 

Would like to say thank you everyone for all the feedback, have been messing around with different kinds of transister circuits and am getting the hang of them now.

 

Select any of the transistor models and LED models and that resistor will start to make a difference.

LTSpice generics can give you a really bad impression of what the program can do.

After you place a generic, change it before you forget.

Excellent find. I've noticed that with some other components, but not with BJT's.
