    Hi.

I was hoping someone could recommend an LED driver that could help me bring down the cost of my projects. I've been using a Buckpuck 500Ma driver that can dim and strobe. Link is here (http://www.ledsupply.com/03021-d-e-500.php). It's really great product but is costly especially since I use 2 of these per project.

I was hoping someone could recommend a driver that matches these specs.
    1. <$8.00
    2. 500mA
    3. 6v Input (4xAA)
    4. Dimming/Strobe/OnOff Capability
    5. <20mm square if possible

    Thanks in advance,
    Bud

Go to eBay and look up "LED driver". There are a lot of cheap little things available amazingly cheap from Chinese vendors. There's a lot of variety; you might find something with the right specs.

Avoid the Ebay Chinese crap like the plague..

Look into Meanwell LDD series drivers.. they do exactly what you want and are sub $8 for sure..

In general LED supply is a ripoff.

Because their prices are higher than others.. simple.
Unless something has changed in the last year.. I was routinely running into products that I needed/wanted on their site. I always found it cheaper at others.

I would seem that the LDD series starts at a minimum of 9vDC. I do need a driver that works with 6vDC. I have to say you are right in that they do have all the other specs I need..

Just a note: While on the Chinese LED supplier topic, be careful when buying white LEDs directly from Chinese suppliers for commercial projects. All white LEDs are currently covered by a myriad of patents; one reason some white LEDs from Chinese suppliers seem to be so cheap is that the price does not include the licenses necessary for sale and use in, for example, the United States.
