Hello, I am unsure if I have these loop equations correct. I am trying to solve the currents for the two loops ie. I1 and I2.
I think I am wrong because dont I need a crossover variable to link the two loop equations or does the shared voltage source in the middle do that ?
Anyway, I have come up with:

13 - 8 - 5I1 = 0
-16 - 8 - 8I2 = 0

simplified to:

5 - 5I1 = 0
-24 - 8I2 = 0

I1 = -5/-5 = 1Amp
I2 = 24/-8 = -3Amps

Could someone please tell me where I have gone wrong if I have.
Thanks kindly for any help.

I1 looks correct,

In your second mesh equation,

-24 + 8I2 = 0, I2=3A, you're off by a negative sign.
