    HI , Im working with some cmos

    I got this signal I wanna invert , I wanna use something else than an 16 pin NOR gate .

    Is there a smaller/faster component to use here ?

    How about a switching FET (or BJT) ?

    You could even fix an SMD one to the side of a CMOS chip.

    Bill, the 555 Schmitt trigger doesn't invert. You should delete the output bubbles in your tutorial.

    EDIT: Ignore this stupid post. See post #8.

    Sorry, but you are wrong in this. It has been verified experimentally.

    The hysteritic oscillator couldn't work if this were so, also verified experimentally.

    555 Hysteretic Oscillator

    Darn that bear.:mad::D
    I'm not even sure how I came to such a ridiculous conclusion.
    I have to stay off my computer after midnight. This is the second night in a row that late night computing has bitten me. The previous night I spent about an hour trying to figure out TeX. I got up in the morning and saw immediately what I was doing wrong.
