I've had this issue before, but starting to bug me. my main system runs windows 7 pro and sometimes I remote desktop to it from an older system E.G server 2000, win XP. every time after I remote into it the icons go everywhere. I suspect because of different resolutions. but I would think thirere'ed be some way that I can arrange them in 7 and lock them then when I remote in they'd either show smaller, or move around without effect on the 7 system.
is it possible to do something like this? other than make a different user just for remote use then the desktop for my main profile would be left alone. and then setting up permissions allowing other user access to portions of my main profile.
