    Hello all,

    I have a dc source with about 30v at 0.2A. I want to bring the voltage down to about 20v and increase the current to about 5A. Can I do that with the LM338?

    My understanding is that the current going into the lm338 must be greater than the desired output current. Is that true?

    If so, how do I increase the 0.2A current source before hooking it to the lm338.

    Regards.

    Hello,

    You just hijacked an existing thread that belongs to someone else;
    LM338 Power Supply Current Regulator

    Now you have a thread of your own.

    You can not use the 0.2 Amp power source to power a 5 Amp regulator.
    You will need an other power source that is capable of at least 5 Amps.

    Sure, as long as it's a magic one that can produce more power out than power input.
