What do the packages used for linear integrated circuits look like?

Dual Inline Packages, or DIP for short. Google it, or look up a data sheet for a LM741. It is pretty typical.

Many types of integrated circuit packages are used for linear ICs including DIP (through-hole), and TSOP and SOIC (surface-mount). The DIP packages are generally only available in older devices, since new devices are usually surface-mount.
