Hmm. It is not pure silicone. Because it turns hard.
I touched one area with my soldering iron. About 350C.
Only a very small area discolored. No smoke.
After cooling, it looks same good as the rest.
Very likely silicone based.
I have 2 lamps running now, reduced voltage to 32 volts, since the panels were very hot. There is only a linear slider, so fine adjustment is a pain. One wrong milimetre, and all the lamps are nuts.
Temperature is just moderate now.
I can also adjust the fan voltage to more than 12V.
So I think, these sinks + fans are at the limit carrying a 30W lamp.
For a 50W, I would need two, or a better heatsink.
I got them for very low cost, however. A big CPU fan costs me 6 to 8 dollar, while small VGA coolers only cost 3 dollar.
I don't want to test too much, just use up what's here. Two more deep red lamps, two more white lamps, and one more blue lamp.
For the rectifier I need different diodes soon as well.
And suspending the lamps also is a challenge. Remember, the least possible effort. So this means using a piece of bell wire, and tie it somewhere.
The funny thing is when I have enough lamps installed, and increase voltage too much, the toroid voltage will break down. I hope just enough for the current effectively to become limited.
2x 36V windings so each only has 250 Watts.
