I've built a little box for the gubbins with an on off switch on top. The cable plugs directly into the box, everything in the box is soldered together. I haven't soldered the LED yet as it's better to be able to separate the LED from the rest of the unit. I might get a couple of crocodile clips for that.
It all works great and was very satisfying watching the first reel of super 8, and now I can have the light stay on when the projector is still, for freeze frame, and also when the projector is in reverse! (i couldn't do those things before).
