Nope. The LM3915 is a bar/dot display driver. Take a look at the datasheet and you will see it is a straightforward device.

What solution have you decided to run with?

I have a solution in mind, but have to discuss it with someone who has the knowledge. I would love to discuss it on the forum, but I can't. I am building the project for a competition and if I but my ideas out in the open, I am just helping my potential opponents. But I promise I'll post the solution in the first week of Feb. (That's when the whole competition will be done with)

The LM3915 has a logarithmic output. You might want to use an LM3914 which has a linear output.

That's a good point. The linear device would be a better choice.
