I am pretty new to electronics, and I learned that a lot of watches use a fraction of the power that each segment of the LED display parts I ordered will use. So where can I find a small display that I can wire up as a stopwatch that will use less power?

I'm working on a toy that will only have a stopwatch as far as electronics go, and I'm hoping to keep total size of the battery or batteries I use significantly below a AAA size, and have it be able to run for a year, so low power consumption is important to me.

Go with an LCD display for lowest power consumption.

    Here on eBay
it is 2 lines by 16 characters. It is set and forget - the driver on the display maintains the display until the microncontroller changes the values.
