I got a question for a school assignment asking;

Why is it beneficial to replace 7-segment displays with those of LCD?

I was thinking that the LCD consumes less current..anymore valid reasons why it is beneficial nowadays to replace 7-segment with those of LCD?

In a world that is starving of energy...
...consuming less power is quite a valid reason.

There are clocks that can be powered by half lemon...used as battery!
...it would be impossible to display the time on 7 segments led displays.

This being a school assignment, we can't just give you the answers, as then you will not have learned how to do research on your own.

It may help you to look at various projects of both types, and consider what other advantages/disadvantages the various types of displays may offer.

 

The student did not mention LED displays.
