    Hey guys.

    Any body ever used this ?

    Any thing better than this?
    i.e I like to know what you guys use.

    Got to have this, work is getting difficult now. I think I need another test tool.

    I bought a cheaper one and it seems to work good I guess... I am not sure on the accuracy but mine has a hard time measuring inductors but otherwise it seems to work...

    Go to YouTube and enter "LCR meter", "LC meter" "review" "teardown" etc.. You will fine quite a few reviews of these type of units. I am sure they willl not compare to a full-blown handheld or desktop..and then again, with current technology, that unit you have there may be far more advanced than a high-end unit 10-20 years ago.

    Try YouTube and you will get a better idea of whether you want to get or not.

    I bought one a month ago and it arrived a few days ago, with 18F PIC. havent yet found a chance to try it out. 9v battery supply, and nokiA 5110 detachable. 25 dollars or so.

    I use a Sencore LC102. it does well on inductors, and all types of capacitors. not a protable, but does have a battery box for carying around.

    Sure.

    The problem with LC meters is that they must use an LC oscillator. And they have non-linear "L to frequency" conversion. And non-linear for "C to frequency".

    That means the internal calculations need to do squares and square roots etc and that really limits accuracy at one end of the range. Or it means you need to mechanically switch in different range components to try to keep the accuracy in the "sweet spot".

    My cap meter uses an RC osc, so is totally linear for C to frequency which enables it to have very high measurement resolution, and the same simple circuit can be used for big uF or as small as 0.01 pF.

    The best LC meter kit I saw was a HAM guy in Holland (I think) who had a very nice kit including the miniature relays that he had refined over a few years, which is part of the reason I did not do a LC meter design. Unfortunately I can't find the link to his kit. :(

    This one looks VERY impressive. Too bad the company is out of business. I went searching and found the former owner; I sent him an email asking if there's any possible way to obtain the kit.

    Nope, it's none of those. :(

    Ah, found it, it's Sweden not Holland;

    he covers all the formulae and gives all the details you need to build your own if you like.

    This is the second generation of his design and I can tell he has put a lot of work into making it excellent (compared to a China ebay kit).

    @Bertus
    I think they are the same type available on Aliexpress.
    Same PCB different Casing.

    I get the same specification, almost word to word from Ali.
