Basically i'm trying to work my way into electronics as my main job is dealing with mobile phones and computers however i'm not experienced with board level repairs and such.

Are there any popular kits out there that you buy as a whole and it teaches you how to build something and explains what is happening?

    Cheers

Some kits will help you learn, but you still have to study a lot.

I plan to mix both. I'm very much a hands on learner however and i benefit best from getting my hands dirty. Just need to find projects with clear instructions and explanations if such thing exists?

Some kits are garbage with obsolete parts (they stocked for 10 or 20 years) and defective designs.
I think Velleman kits are pretty good today.

In THE GOOD OLD DAYS I made some Eico and Heathkit kits that were excellent. I wish I had a few Knight kits.
