I have 2 cells one of voltage 12v and internal resistance 2Ω and the other 3v and 2Ω connected in parallel with like terminals joined together as in the diagram. What is the resultant emf of the arrangement? *They are asking to calculate it using the Kirchoff's laws. Can anyone help me with this?

 

Do you know any of the two Kirchoff's law ?
The Current law and the Voltage law ?

 

You may understand the problem better if you include the internal resistances in your circuit. Draw the circuit showing these resistances - this should help you to see what is going on.

Can you write an equation for the current around the loop?
