jhonson counter or shift register

    i plan buid led matrix 7 x 30 for my project , early design i plan to use shift register 74hc595 for colum .i plan to use row scan for my project..

    after searching net , i found some material related to my project
    but most of them use jhonson counter such 4017 and it colum scan.

    i already study it , and i already can expand it..from 7x 5 to 7 x 10 although my design just simulate in proteus . and in progress to 7 x 30

    my problem
    i already buy couple of 74hc595 , and i live in indonesia.
    at my town dificult to get them. i must order from capital and arrive in my town can take some day or worse week
    i need complete this project within 2 week , can anyone help/ show me
    link to project use shift register or give some material for example.
    i use uC pic for myproject

    I think the better approach would be to use the johnson counter and scan the columns, then you can just use the uc to display the data..... check out this thread http://forum.allaboutcircuits.com/showthread.php?t=28372, in one of the posts I have attached an 8x8 LED matrix display with a johnson counter as the column scanner....

    i will try use jhonson counter , because after doing same reseach in net i actually found that row scan more difficult than colum scan

    maybe my order can arrive within 3 day , meanwhile i can finishing my code

    i also plan to make my project can receive text from pc and store it in PIC.
    i use pic 16f877A for my project can you help me for tutorial or material
