Hi reader,

In one of the industrial product I want to use AT91SAM9261S an ARM9 Atmel microcontroller. I am wondering about the reliability. I heard that atmel controllers are not very robust to use in automotive or medical applications. Could all share their experiences if have worked with this or any other Arm9 Atmel controller?

I had a experience with a controller. I was using a Arm7 Atmel controller. It was 1 year after they launched this chip. But after few months, they published a silicon errata which had an impact on my board.

I have seen many critical boards like ECU where they really don't prefer Atmel controllers but use controllers like infinion, microchip etc.

Ofcourse they have other good side like easy development, scalability, higher silicon density etc.

All I heard about Atmel controllers could be wrong. Since it is a open forum, I though it would be better asking some opinions rather than contacting field engineers.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,
Mahesh
