Hello. I need a flyback monolithic converter, with at least 2A switch current. It should be monolitic - no external transistors or whatsoever, and be in small, SMD package (except BGA/LGA). Any ideas?

 

Do you want a converter, which the LM2586 is not as it needs a lot of external parts, or do you want a controller? And do you really mean a flyback topology specifically?
Or do you mean a flyback controller with an integrated transistor perhaps? Please be a lot more specific.

 

Yes, I need flyback converter with integrated switch, preferably in SOIC-8/SOT-23 or similar, small packages. I guess, reference to LM2586/LM2588 is quite clear in describing what I need.

Won't any flyback converter need an external inductor? One rated for >2A will be relatively bulky.

 

High frequencies tolerate small inductances, which leads to small physical dimensions

 

Even so, have you found a suitable inductor with an acceptable physical size?
